Jesus's own invitation is addressed specifically to the worn out: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28).
On My Way To Jerusalem is the story of one exhausted seeker who goes looking for the Healer — and discovers that everything she hoped He could do for her wounded heart, He had already done at the cross.
The song opens where a lot of us actually live: "I heard He can heal the wounded heart… my body's tired of living. Oh Jesus, where are You now?" That is not a polished church sentence. It is the 2 a.m. question.

The story of the song
One road. Two travelers. Twenty centuries apart.
The story that accompanies On My Way To Jerusalem follows two women who have never met and are, in every way that matters, the same person — needing a Savior.
One of them lives now. We meet her in black and white: a city street full of people who do not see her, a rooftop at dusk, a room where the loneliness is louder than the traffic. She has everything our century promises will be enough — and she is running out of road.
The other lives in the first century. She has heard a rumor that changes everything for people with nothing left: there is a man in Jerusalem who heals. Wounded hearts, broken bodies, ruined stories — all of it. So she goes.
The song is her voice — and his, and yours: "On my way to Jerusalem. That's where they said I might find Him. I heard He can heal the wounded heart."
What she finds when she arrives is not what she expected. Roman soldiers, an arrest in the night, a trial stacked with false witnesses, and the Healer she crossed a wilderness to find is condemned and led away to die.
And there — in the rain, in the dark, in the middle of the worst thing that has ever happened — the song makes its turn. Because the crucifixion was not the end of her hope. It was the answer to it.
"They nailed Him up on a tree, but He was hanging there for you and me." The healing she came looking for was not canceled at the cross. It was purchased there.

The resolution
"I finally found my Lord"
Every journey in this story ends in daylight. The seeker who walked into Jerusalem with nothing left walks out with everything that matters: "He took my pain and disease. By His wounds I am free."
Not a coping strategy. Not a brave face. Free. And the woman in our century steps into color. Same road, same Savior, same result.
